Greeting the Spirit of the Nolan

In the thursday afternoon, the Campo day Fiori was full of people. Atheists, agnostics and rationalists were erecting banners and stands. The base of the Bruno's statue was now full of wreaths, poems and other statements.

Voices around the statue - MP3 about 500 kB, 30 seconds.

There was a company of policemen or ''Carabinieri'' around the square. I don't know why. I heard that they come to guard the square every year. Like the peaceful atheists and pantheists would start a riot or something.

There were many Italian atheist and other associations there, and one French too.

There was this huge banner saying: ''ZONA DEWOYTILIZZATA'' - ''Popeless zone'', after the last name of the current Pope, Woytil-something.

Also World Pantheist Movement erected their nature-inspired banner.

The youngest of the people in the WPM meeting, laid a wreath on the basement of Bruno's statue.

There were many kinds of poems and statements attached to the basement.

This one man stood there for hours, holding these two papers. I don't know Italian, but they say something like: ''... You rest among the people who have given the light to humanity. Thank you Bruno for your eternal thoughts, ......future generations.'' (anyone willing to make the translations?)

There were speeches held in the front of the statue.

A speech by the older man below - MP3 about 740 kB, 30 seconds.
Another speech later - MP3 about 560 kB, 30 seconds.

There were also music presentations on saturday - (MP3 about 770 kB, 30 seconds).

In a movie theater by the Campo dei Fiori, there was an exhibition about Bruno.

We noticed a long long flight of birds on the sky. It was like a living stream, flowing south. It lasted for at least ten minutes, perhaps even much longer, so there may have been tens or even hundreds of thousands of birds there.
