[^^ Other series ^^] Dachstein 1/21 [== Image index ==] >>> Next picture >>>

A karst lake at the Dachstein highlands. While there are some rivers, most of the water escapes from the highlands through small cracs which develop into huge underground cave systems, such as the Mammoth Caves nearby. But these innocent-looking lakes are how it starts, and POOF, in a million years you have a cave system. There are not too many such lakes, however, so this one even has a name, Daumelsee.
