Problem: Vacuum wand at tylan 9 found on floor. Also, the wand
         was loose.
Solution: Replaced entire wand. Users should avoid bending the
          rod to "customize" it; doing so make the entire wand
          assembly loose.

The batteries on the tylans were found dry. This is because they
are maintenance free batteries and the charger was restored and
set to "conventional". Maintenance free batteries are equipped
with breather caps with a catalytic spounge which takes H2
evolved during charging and reacts it with O2 in the air to
reform H20 and therefore don't require frequent additions of
H20. They require slower charging cycles so the rate of
formation of water is not exceeded.

Battery replacements will have to be ordered. The batteries have
been retopped off this afternoon and hopefully will support the
RAM for the duration of the shutdown.

>>> 'tylans' problem from bob -- Tue Jan 23 10:34:20 1990 <<<

The batteries on the tylans supported the RAM on bank3 during our
power shutdown. Bank1,2,4 require recalibration which is ongoing.
Gel-Cells have been priced and will be used in place of the current
batteries as they offer the advantage of deep cycling, require no
maintenance and cannot be overcharged. These batteries will be
intalled in aproximately 2 weeks when they arrive. The cost will
be about $150.00, about 2X wet-cell prices.

The tycom interface to the wand is down. I cannot monitor the tylans
from the wand.

The standard recipe disc is almost full. There are not enough available
sectors to edit the longer recipes (I think it uses a temp file of equal
size). Are there any recipes that can be removed or should a new disc
be started? I would like to add process pressure control to STEP 55 of
NITSTNBY but cannot edit the program. Perhaps some of the rarely used
programs can be moved to another disc.

A new deep cycle battery has beed procured for the tylans. This battery will
replace the standard autobatteries currently in place. In addition an app-
ropriate charger was secured with automated features which will prevent
overcharging. This new battery was purchased from Battery Specialists in
Oakland and does not require the addition of water or maintenance.

>>> 'tylans' problem from evan -- Tue Feb  6 15:41:11 1990 <<<

The new battery has been installed. Unfortunatly, I discovered that the
present hookup ties all the banks' power supplies together creating a big
ground loop. The configuration of battery backup will have to be changed.
The saga continues.....

bank3 will be down for several hours this afternoon for a major repair job.

Problem: recipes not loading correctly and/or tubes not firing.
         I have found that the amp boards' power supply is at 8.4 vdc when
         it should be at 12vdc. In order to reach this, all the ribbon
         connectors will have to be untangled. Since this P/S runs all
         the tubes in the bank, the entire bank is down.

>>> 'tylans' problem from evan -- Wed Feb  7 13:57:45 1990 <<<

The amp boards' power supply was ok. It was being loaded down by tylan10
amp board. When this card was replaced, all tubes in bank3 received
recipies and the heaters fired.
bank3 is up

Battery backup is still not functioning. The battery is charged and connected
to bank3. The charger is OFF.
A solution to the ground loop between banks still needs to be solved.

>>> 'tylans' problem from bob -- Thu Mar 15 14:59:56 1990 <<<

A blockage in the tylans exhaust system has been cleared and the manifold
cleaned. This has been added to James' pmstat for visual checks and cleans
every 3 mos. These inspections and cleans are to be reported in tylans-comments.
The tylans are back up.

Bank1 was found cold this morning. I would like to have phillip checkout
the power to this bank when I have it shut down for reinstallation of
tylan4 transformer.
The bank1 furnaces were restarted with no problem. This shutdown seems
to happen about once a month for no known reason.

The +-12vdc power supply for the amp cards in bank3 was found with the
-12 and -12sense leads unsoldered. They were just wrapped around the terminals.This is a mfg defect. It is the source of many of the power glitches
experienced in bank3. The leads have been soldered.

>>> 'tylans' fix from evan -- Tue May  1 09:19:29 1990 <<<

problem: bank1 found half dead. tylan1,3,4 cold.
solution: powered down bank and cleaned and tightened molex connections.
lubed contacts with a low insertion contact solution.

Also added battery backup power to this bank.

Reloaded STARTX programs; bank is all firing.

bank1 is up

>>> 'tylans' fix from evan -- Tue May  1 14:36:57 1990 <<<

Battery backup added to bank2. All banks are now online.
Blimp status input and circuit diagrams still need to be completed.

The heat exchanger fins in all banks have been vacuumed to maintain
efficiency.
The areas inside and under the cabinets were also cleaned out.

Problems: Tylan bank #1 is down/all four tubes

>>> 'tylans' fix from bob -- Fri May 11 09:33:34 1990 <<<

The reason for this bank failure is unknown. All supply voltages
again check OK. I have reloaded main1-4X into all tubes. tylan4
would not accept a load. This points to tylan4 as the possible
culprit. I have "pulled" it's slave cpu board and have tylan1-2
loaded and calibrating. tylan3 is set to cal in 12:00:00 hours
so the vlsi doesn't get warm from to many tubes running cals
at the same time.
tylan4 remains offline pending Evan's repair. It's low use
doesn't require immediate response.

>>> 'tylans' problem from marilyn -- Mon May 14 08:42:55 1990 <<<

Problem: Bank 1 is down/all four tubes. LEDs are flickering at tube
         1, but the temp. is only 350.

>>> 'tylans' fix from evan -- Mon May 14 11:52:04 1990 <<<

problem: bank1 down
cause: still unknown
solution: reset boards and tycom (to clear i/o error lockout)
          loaded power-up STARTX programs. all tubes firing.

bbank is up (tylan1 runtime problem reported seperatly not fixed)
