Sprayed contact cleaner and lubricant on the zeroing switch of the
vickers. It works with ease. The vickers is up.

The shutter control is broken. Spring breaks out. I have to control
the shutter mannually by using a small stick in the hole. It needs
repair.

The stage does not go high enough to bring the wafer into focus.
I had to use the bottom half of a wafer carrier to raise the wafer in
order to focus it.

I can not use the shear mode on the T.V. monitor without the measuring
bar. Therefore, the amplitude measuring system is not working also.

Steve Hoagland and I both looked at the vickers. Since neither of us
have much experience with actual measurements it is difficult to be
specific about the solution or cause of this problem. The amplitude
feature was amde to work and work well by adjusting the focus of
the illumination source. When the source is run out of focus and at
excessive brightness this feature is washed out and works poorly.
By making a few adjustments the vickers seems to be working normaly.

both left on.

Problem: The measurement is one micron off from the 50 um linewidth on the
          standard micro-slide.

The vickers has been recalibrated. The 1 um error on 50 um line width as
reported was with objective/switch # 3.
This position was out of calibration.

vickers is up
