Gold has an intermittent bug that distorts the screen and logs you out.
This bug manifests itself after 10-20 minutes of work.

James (or Dave),
what needs to happen to the Gold sun now to get it working again?

James Hopkin will be working on the gold trermianl for the day
to test it. It was rebooted and appears to be working reliably now.

Apparently Gold is acting up again. Users report similar malfunction
as before occurring last few days. Latest was yesterday 1/31. Gold
was rebooted after power outage and is functioning normally for the
time being, but I suspect that the problem will crop up again soon.
I believe that the problem was still occurring after all rogue processes
were terminated, so I conclude some heat fault is the cause.

The problem manifests itself by a flickering screen that flickers
more and more frequently until the screen blanks. When windows
return, the user has been logged off. This tends to destroy any kic
work in progress.

I know that the problem will be back any day now. I can feel it in my bones.
As soon as it does, I'll contact the sun people and get them up here so they can
	see it.

I refuse to say everything looks okay like the last time. I am
waiting patiently for it to think the coast is clear. I will notify
the sun people when the bug reemerges.

The 'palladium' sun in the student study area has no picture
on the CRT. Resetting it does not seem to help.

>>> 'suns' problem from missert -- Thu Mar  1 10:23:25 1990 <<<

I have been trying to use kic on gold and when I invoke
"xkic&" I get the various windows, clock etc., but then
the mouse (or cursor) is gone - it is not visible on the
screen and moving the mouse has no effect. Also the clock
stops, indicating that everything is effectively dead. I have
rebooted the system to try to solve this problem but the
same thing happens again. Since palladium is also down
mask - making can only be done by standing at zirconium.

P: The prodigal sun 'palladium' does not show a picture on the CRT.
The 'gold' mouse will not move the cursor.

S: Problems repaired by Phil Loarie of the sunrise group.

All suns in the lobby are up and working...............
