I talked to Gino. There should have been some paint left here after
the job was completed. The used was by Kelly Moore, dura proxy #1680,
high gloss acoustic white.
Hope this helps.

Problem: Lab air input temp to cold/front door won't close.

Cause: An inspection of the air supply/exhaust showed the
          steam was fully and not able to bring the lab temp down. All exhaust
          fans were on yet the lab was under more positive pressure than normal.
          An inspection of the filter bank showed 10 of the 20 prefilters
          had fallen out of the filter bank.

Solution: Phill and Paul replaced the filters. Loretta was
	  called as Eleta is out today. I have asked her to call PFM
          and report a problem. The filters should be inspected and a
          determination needs to be made as to why they are falling
          out. Blimp was actually telling us something was
          wrong and we weren't believing it. Long live blimp

The 23 1/2 X 23 1/2 X 4" (qty 16) filters fell out of the frame
of the air supply duct during the January 20th power failure.
This led to excess air entering the lab. The filters were replaced
by Phillip. PFM has been notified and they will install new ones
shortly at their expense. Checking the filters after a power shutdown
will be added to the power-up checklist.

>>> 'facilities' problem from bob -- Thu Feb  8 09:43:10 1990 <<<

The air input filters for the Microlab need replacing. PFM is checking
inventory and will call back with a date for installation. The install
will require shutting down both supply and exhaust for 1 hour and will
be scheduled for early (7:00ish) and announced when PFM gives me a date.

>>> 'facilities' problem from bob -- Fri Feb  9 08:19:53 1990 <<<

The air intake filters for both the new and the old lab have been
replaced. A 1X/yr check will be added to pmstat and PFM will be
asked to put us on a replacement calendar, 1X/yr.
The air intake in the new lab is up and the old lab should be up
momentarily.

>>> 'facilities' problem from phillip -- Fri Feb  9 09:42:44 1990 <<<

P: The lab main doors need adjusting. Loretta/Eleta has
   been notified.

Until then, the door must be pulled closed to prevent the alarm
from sounding.

>>> 'facilities' problem from bob -- Fri Feb  9 15:53:55 1990 <<<

Problems with the front door closing and the lab under high positive
pressure have been attributed to the increased volume of supply air.
This is the result of:

1 New filters
2 The bag filters were upgraded from 18" to 30"

The lab will require pressure balancing. In the meantime, the
filter bank on in Rm 546 has had 4 of the 16 filters blocked
off to reduce lab volume.

The front door now closes and we're up for the weekend!

>>> 'facilities' problem from bob -- Wed Feb 14 09:44:06 1990 <<<

The Microlab temperature has been swinging widely the last few weeks.
With the much cooler weather this AM the lab air input temperature
droppedd to 53F. The supply air control system is calling for full
steam; however, we are not getting it. This problem needs to be reported
to PFM as an emergency. The Microlab air temp should be controlled to
+-2F as called for in the original design of the lab. We have seen this
control getting much worse over the last few months reaching a critical
problem this AM. The air temp spec directly effects lab equipment and
is not a comfort issue!

Eleta will be cc'd this report and will call it in.

>>> 'facilities' problem from bob -- Wed Feb 14 14:11:41 1990 <<<

Mike Ahoy of PFM came by re: our getting shorted on steam. It
seems the campus was low on steam pressure as the Co-Gen plant is
down for a turbine rebuild and on of the two back-up boilers
went down this AM.

We still don't have an explanation regarding the chronic low temps
in the early AM ours of the lab. This will docummented by our hygro-thermograph and then PFM will be contacted again.

The lab should be more comfortable now that the steam has been serviced.

>>> 'facilities' problem from bob -- Wed Feb 14 16:06:52 1990 <<<

More More umph (force) has been added to the closure on the front doors

The house air pressure is down to 40 psi. The compressor should have
a sensor on it to register such errors on BLIMP. There is no way to
know air pressure is low enless the cpa or lams alarm.

The exhaust for the wet sink in Rm415 is not sufficient. Scott McNally
was going to make a suggestion on a solution; however, he is not currently

Problem:Microlab temperature regulation poor. Insufficient heat
        in the early morning hours.

Cause: John Tusting, Stationary Engineer, check out our
	complaint of poor temperature regulation of the Microlab.
	He found:
	1. Pilot positioner improperly installed on steam regulating
	valve-necessary changes made to fix this.

	2. Insufficient steam pressure- he has turned in a request
	to have it boosted.

The temperature of the Microlab will continue to be tracked
and a report will be made as to its stability.

Eleta will be informed that this work was done as this note
will be cc'd to her.

One of two systems (compressors) has failed on the McQuay chiller
leaving us with marginal cooling on our CHWS loop. Eleta will be
contacted to have this problem called into for emergency repair.

The problem was found by UC's mechanical contractor, Alladin.

The problem will manifest itself when the outside air temperature
rises above 65F and will cause the lab to operate at above normal
temperatures.

>>> 'facilities' problem from bob -- Tue Mar 20 07:41:50 1990 <<<

The McQuay chiller was down on 1 whole bank. After work by Alladin,
we are now 75% up. Additional parts are on order for full restoration.
The chiller should be 100% up by latter this week. This problem has
a "A" tag request. "A" tag is the highest priority.

The latest charts from the hygrothermograph in y-2 indicate the

and recalibration of the lab temperature control. The hygrothermograph
will be supported weekly and records stored.
