[alatavicus-1.jpg] 518x780 (~79Kb) Flowering Crocus alatavicus Regel et Schmahl. densely covers open places within the forest and subalpine belt in the Northern Dzhungarian Alatau Mountain Chain just after snow melting. Most of these places are overgrazed by sheep in summer, but this ephemeroid species is nearly of advantage in these conditions as being too early to be trumpled out and enjoing a heavily fertilized soil.
