Trams of Brno - Dopravní podnik města Brna

cz-dpmb-skoda13t-brnomainstation-140718-full.jpg

The city of Brno has a fairly extensive tram network. Route length is 70,4 km and the city has 322 trams and close to 200 million passengers per year(!). This tram is a Škoda 13 T. Brno has 49 of them. The somewhat peculiar looks of the tram comes from the designers of Porsche. These were built in several batches 2007 to 2018.

These two trams are of the type Vario LF. Though it is hard to believe from its looks, these are totally rebuilt old Tatra T3 trams, commonplace throughout the former communist block countries. They have been rebuilt 2005 to 2018 by a group of companies "Aliance TW Team". Electric parts of the tram come now from Škoda and much of the body and fittings come from ČKD Pragoimex. As it is now, the tram has 32 seats and 84 places for standing passengers.

This is a Vario LF2. It is a similarly totally rebuilt old tram as the Vario LF, but it is not based on the short old Tatra T3, but the newer and longer articulated model Tatra K2. These have now 46 seats and 94 standing places. Modernisations have been made 2008-2018.

This tram with "Bauhaus" tapings is a Tatra KT8D5. It is a very long bidirectional tram, which consists of two normal frontal sections of a Tatra articulated tram facing opposing directions and a long low-floor middle piece. They were built 1984-1999 by what then was ČKD Tatra. These ones in Brno were taken in use in 1986.

Trams of Praha (Prag) - Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy a.s

cz-dphmp-8277-praha_strasnice-150718-full.jpg

A typical tram of the city of Praha (Prag), this consists of two modernised Tatra T3 trams, the first of which has now a low-floor section. Praha still has quite a lot of old Tatra T3s in use and even some new trams were built according to the very old Tatra T3 model, but with a low-floor part. It's probable that the first wagon in this picture actually is new. There are almost 550 Tatra T3 trams in Praha when counting all the different variants.
