Some mail systems will reject large messages. Messages should be smaller than 30K bytes. In other words, pictures, uuencoded files, etc., should probably _not_ be sent to the hang-gliding list. DELIVERY FORMATS: Messages posted to the hang-gliding list are normally redistributed in a "digest" format. Rather than sending out copies of individual messages, messages are compiled into a digest and the digest is sent once every 24 hours. If the message volume is particularly high, digests are sent out more often. If you don't want to receive the digest format, send email to "hang-gliding-request@virgina.edu" requesting "immediate" mail delivery. Everyone gets the digest format by default when they are added to the mailing list. Please use the digest format, as it _greatly_ relieves the load on the mail server. It is far more economical to send 1 digest message to 438 sites (or a total of 438 deliveries) than to send 5 individual messages to 438 sites (or a total of 2190 deliveries). That said, I totally understand the need to get hang-gliding tidbits more than once a day.
