I do not work for any kite company. 2. I do not work for any kite magazine. 3. I am not a pro in any way shape or form. 4. No one knows who I am, so this will be wasted band bandwidth because of the first 3 above. 5. I have never entered a kite fly, and only been to 2 at this point. 6. I only have 5 kites, 22 year old silk Sky Bird, 7 year old Skynasaur, Griffin, Rev I, and the MYLS. 7. I don't know how to do any of the real good tricks, yet. 8. I DO know what I like and don't like. 9. I can't spell or type worth a #$@. So with the above in mind you can stop at this point or go on and read some wasted bandwidth. The Kite: MYSL by Flying Wing Frame: SkyShark 5p ( http://www.eskimo.com/~sharkey/ ) Sail: Toray .5 oz Wind Range: 2-20 mph Wingspan: 8 ft. Height: 3 ft. 9 in Weight: 8.6 oz. All this info can from Flying Wings home page. If you want to read about the kite go to Flying Wings home page. http://idt.liberty.com/~pertel19/kite/product.htm Dealer ordered from: Kites Over Houston, Houston, Texas Dealer comments: Excellent, worked with me on all details and got me the kite when they said they would and the cost they quoted me on the phone. Mr. Anderson called me in the evening on his own time to talked to me about what I wanted and needed. (Knew his stuff) Although they are not a mail-order house they do ship. Delivery condition: No problems at all. Clean and neat just like a new kite should be. First impression: The kites comes in a windowed case. I like it, it lets me see what kit is in the case. There is also a pocket on the case to put a winder with line. I would like for the pocket to be a little longer and have a flap over it. The case is gray in color and is flat, not just a tub. The case is larger then most that I have seen and the kite slides in very easy. The kite looks **GOOD**, the hardware is very good, the sail standoffs are snaps at the sail and fit into a very nice fitting on the lower spreader, looks and is first class. The spreader is marked with a little white line as to the position of the standoff fitting, but then Flying Wings goes one better, they put 2 warps of vinyl tape on each side of the fitting. The fitting will turn, but stays in position. The wing tip standoffs fit in a pocket and then into the fitting on the spreader bar. Flying Wings did use a small rubber band around each wing tip standoff to keep in with the spreader bar when it is disassembled, nice touch. This could be taken off if you are looking at loosing a gram or two. All nochs are of the safety type, no sharp points, this helps because the Dr. won't let me have sharp objects. The center spine is setup a little different then anything I have seen. It is a 2 piece shaft, it runs form the nose to about 2 inches below the T fitting. At that point there is an aluminum coupler and then another piece of shift. The short piece of shift has a T on the end of it. There is a Velcro strip sewn form just below the spreader bar T down and around the spine T and attaches to the back side, this is the spine tensioner. There is no shock cord or noch on the spine, I am not sure if this is good or bad. Nose into the ground crash my brake the spine. ( If Flying Wings reads this they my replay with the reason for this setup) It looks nice, I just don't know why or what it does. The stitching is good, it is a zig zag type stitch with tape under it, not sure about the tape but it looks like it.. The places where it needs extra stitching it is there. The wing tip standoff pockets, and all other areas that need it are triple or double stitched. There are 7 large panels that make up the main kite. The BIG thing is the vented wing tips, if you look at the pictures on their web site you can see them. They really look good and add a lot to the kites looks. Now the important stuff IT FLYS LIKE A DREAM I only got in an hour of flying do to the winds they just kept climbing and climbing, but what an hour. It was the best hour of flying I have ever had. I was able to land the kite anywhere. I have never been able to land the Griffin anywhere except the edge of the window. With the MYSL I could land in anywhere I wanted. I was doing tip stands and flattening the kite out any time I wanted. You can side slip it with ease, it will just float to the sides almost like the Rev. It showed NO oversteer, a very small pull on the line and it turned and went straight as a string. It is a very quiet kite and the only noise you here is wind on the lines. This kite wants to fly, from the ground I could take it off and get it back the sky from just about any angle (No I couldn't get it back when the nose was pointed to the wind and it was on its face). I know one hour is not very much time but that was all I could get, I will spend munch more time over the next few week telling everyone just about how it goes. I didn't read Am Kite's write up on the kite and I am glade I didn't, this kite in outstanding and I love it. If you get a chance to fly one don't let in go by. If you are looking for a new kite you must take a good look at this one. MORE TO COME = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
