Subject: Flying around Boston Though I tried to fly my first kite during the Hoover Adminis- tration, I'm a total innocent. I recently bought a 4 1/2 ft. Delta and enjoy it a lot. One drawback: the nearest park (in Brookline) doesn't give me more than a few hundred yards of latitude. As a Boston newcomer I'd appreciate suggestions as to really open parks and beaches. E-mail preferred. Thanks in advance. Two favorite spots are - the beach along the causeway at Nahant, and the Bose plant in Framingham. To get to Bose go West on the Mass Pike, exit onto Route 9 West, and take a right into Framingham Industrial Park. At the base of the Mountain take a Left, and go round to the top, flying is to the West of the Bose plant. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 5 Nov 1993 05:46:18 -1000 From: ilh@lcs.mit.edu (Lee Hetherington) Message-Id: Organization: MIT/LCS Spoken Language Systems Subject: Re: Flying around Boston In article <2b43ll$5r4@nntpd.lkg.dec.com> e_splett@trofs.enet.dec.com (Evan Splett - Ottawa) writes: | Two favorite spots are - the beach along the causeway at Nahant, | and the Bose plant in Framingham. Another, somewhat less popular, favorite is Danehy Park in Cambridge on Sherman Street. There's also an entrance near the Fresh Pond movie theater. This park has several soccer fields and softball fields, and is elevated (land fill) somewhat above the surrounding land. As far as wind quality, Nahant is about the best in the area. Its only problem is that at high tide, there isn't very much beach. -- Lee Hetherington ilh@lcs.mit.edu = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
