I reread it three times before I posted it. Oh Well, I doesn't pay to be a smart ass. Opps! Can we still say that on the net? I leave you a little red faced. She inquired why, and he replied, "Cause all daddies do is fly kites, pitch frisbee, and ride bicycles". "Why do you think Daddy goes to NASA", she asked, coming to my defense. "To rest", was his reply. Out of the mouth of babes. This has always been a fun story to tell, but I never really thought about my hobbies and whether they might be connected in some cosmic way. Until today. Walking back from lunch, facing a stiff cold wind, it occurred to me that they were not only related, they actually formed a perfect whole, like a masterful tirology, or beautiful triptych (yes it's spelled correctly, but you better believe I had to look it up). When the wind is blowing at your back, you fly kites. When it's blowing in your face, you ride a bicycle. This is a chicken and egg sort of thing. Do you really ride because the wind is blowing in your face, or is the wind blowing in your face because you are riding? And when the wind is blowing from any other direction, you pitch a frisbee. Of course when it's not blowing at all, you fly your UL. Just a thought on a cold, blustery, day. May you have warm breezes, and never forget those world famous instructions: "Flat flip flies straight, tilted flip curves.
