EVENT INFORMATION: Sponsored by Fly Away Kites, Inc. of Belmar NJ, this Open Ballet competition will be the showcase event of a weekend of sport kite flying in the town of Belmar, New Jersey, a hotbed of kite flying on the Jersey Shore. The second event, being held on Sunday April 28, will be the Belmar Seacoast Sport Kite Championships, a regional competition for novice and intermediate competitors. Both events will be run by the Monmouth-Ocean County Kitefliers, an area club affiliated with Fly Away Kites. This competition is "OPEN", which means that it is open to any fliers of any competition class who wish to enter. However, registration will be limited to a MAXIMUM OF 30 COMPETITORS. No exceptions. Dual line kites ONLY. PRIZE BREAKDOWN: $1,500 in Cash Prizes will be awarded by FLY-AWAY KITES First Place....... $750 Second Place...$500 Third Place......$250 Places 4-30 will receive materal prizes donated by: Aerodrone Sport Kites, Air Master Kites, Dyna-Kite, High Fly Kite Co., MLD Associates, Moran Precision Aerobatic Revolution Kites, Sport Kite News, TC Ultra, *******INCOMPLETE LIST as of 2/7/96******* REGISTRATION: The registration fee for this event is $50, and includes an event T-shirt. All competitors must be members of the American Kitefliers Association. If you need to join the AKA, or renew your membership, you may do so on the registration form. The fee is $20. In order to ensure that everyone has an equal shot at entering this competition, Registration forms will not be accepted until MARCH 15, 1996. Registration forms received before March 15, WILL BE RETURNED. Registrations will be accepted by standard US Mail ONLY, NO E-MAIL REGISTRATIONS will be accepted! Beginning on March 15, registrations will be accepted, on a first come first served basis. Registration will remain open until a maximum of 30 competitors are registered. If your registration form is one of the first 30 received, you will be sent a confirmation letter in the mail, which will include detailed event information. Any registration forms and checks received after registration closes will be returned. HEATS: Two heats of 15 fliers each will be run, with the top 5 finishers from each heat advancing to the Final competition. Flight orders will be picked at random, on the morning of the event. RULES: THIS COMPETITION WILL BE RUN USING THE CURRENT AKA INTERNATIONAL SPORT KITE COMPETITION RULE BOOK. ALL DECISIONS OF THE JUDGING STAFF ARE FINAL. FLYING FIELD SIZE: The competition will be held on the beach, at 1st through 4th Avenues, in Belmar, NJ. Flying field sizes will be as large as the beach permits, approximately 300' N-S x 200' W-E. Please adjust you line lengths accordingly. MUSIC: Competitors are responsible for their own music. A Compact Disc player will be available, however we require that you bring a cassette copy of your music, as a back up, in the event of complications. AKA rules apply.
