Most of the buggiers were flying Peels, and just below the PL handles on the harness were what looked like floats, bouy looking things. What are these for? These floats keep your quick release handles from sinking. I once lost a set without floats but luckily found it the next morning after the tide went out. As Fritz spends a lot of time on the Buggy Boat, he just leaves the floats on.. They will stay on top if you drop them in a real bailout. Yes, but like everything else, it's got a flip-side. If you're going boating in anything more than a light breeze, you're going to want to use hooks, to transfer the power to the boat. The problem with the hooks is that it limits your steering movement - when you've pulled the handle all the way down to the hook, you can't go any further. I take care to tie my harness line to minimise this problem. I use a fat rope, which I can just manage to poke through the hole in the handle, then tie a stopper-knot on the other side, so that the hook can slide all the way up to the handle. A float throws all this out the window by chopping 2 or 3 inches of movement off the end. With your set up, the float could go on the outside of the handle. Better still would be to make the handles themseves more buoyant. However, you could always tie the handle to the boat! -- __ Andrew Hawken ________________________________________________________ a.hawken@qmw.ac.uk __ As far as I can make out, *I* am responsible?! __ andiih@micromuse.com ____________________________________________________ = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
