I am tired of tape, and am considering trying to find some appropriately sized and textured rubber tubing. Thought someone in the group might have a proven solution. No, I don't think you are missing anything, I have exactly the same problem. Just thought I'd reassure you. I have been using 1/4" rubber tubing for two years now. It is quick and easy ONCE YOU GET THE TUBING ON THE SPAR. With the 6' flexi, roll the tubing on the spar that is without the ferrule. Once the tubing is on the spar, position it so it overlaps the ferrule (fully in position) by about an inch. To use the tubing, roll the tubing back over itself enough to get the ferrule (and other spar) all the way onto the spar. Now, allow the tubing to roll down over the ferrule and you are in business. It works!!! Your spars WILL NOT come apart as long at the rubber tubing is over the ferrule. By the bye, this is handy with the 8' and 10' flexis also. A little thought will provide the answer as to how to "fix" the tubing in place on the larger kites. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Sun, 6 Nov 1994 13:04:40 -1000 From: andrew@tug.com (Andrew Beattie) Message-Id: Organization: /usr/lib/news/organisation Subject: Re: Flexi Spar Connection >Am I missing something or has everyone else figgered out how to keep the >spar in a flexifoil connected? When you pack away, don't throw it away, just wrap it round the spar, ready to use again next time.
