I'm wondering what my repair options are. As it appears that the top skin is one continuous piece of fabric, can the tear be repaired? Can someone recommend a repair shop? Or should I send it to the manufacturer? Or, is it a total? Sigh. Call Jeannie Merry at (908) 505-0388 for more information and a cost estimate.. Small tears can be repaired with ripstop tape, but larger ones like you describe are best repaired with a sewn patch.. In the panel or on the seam? Panel is easy, seam is a pain. Either way, unpick the trailing edge, repair the tear with ripstop repair tape, sew the tape in place (it's fiddly to get the sewing machine arm inside the pocket but not too hard), and re-sew the trailing edge. Use your maximum stitch size. On the other hand, I have a cut in one of my flexies that I stuck some rip-stop repair tape on a year ago and it's still OK, but I think I've been lucky (mine was a low stress position on the edge - you have carefuly selected the position of maximum stress :-) ) Andrew -- Work: gaffer@plx.com Phone: +44 793 614 110 Fax: +44 793 614 297 Play: andrew@tug.com Phone: +44 256 464 912 Interested in kite traction? mail kites@tug.com = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 4 Apr 1994 01:49:38 -1000 From: stever@mindvox.phantom.com (Stephen Rappaport) Message-Id: Organization: [MindVox] / Phantom Access Technologies / (+1 800-MindVox) Subject: flexi repair needed I need to locate a flexi repair-person in the U.S. Recommendations? My kite dealer sent it to Ray and it was sent back neatly patched. It's quite strong and hasn't affected performance at all. Rumor has it that Ray likes to see "his" kites once in a while to see how they're doing... =) I highly recommend sending your Flexi back to Cobra for repair. They do a great job. This seems a bit overboard, almost like stating that you have to take your car to Detroit to be fixed, instead of the service station on the corner...
