With the recent thread on the Lynn comp buggies and so called Frame looseness and bent rear axels, I was wondering if anyone has had or heard of any problems with the Peter lynn/ flexifoil buggies? I have put many hard miles on mine wth no problems. I tip the scales pretty good and at El-Mirage, My butt took more of a beating on the pucker bumps than the buggy did. So, any broken/bent axels or looseness? I know there are a lot out there and since many buggies are out there with high mileage, has any one figured out which buggy is the sturdiest??? Just a question with lots of feedback needed. Please reply. Maybe a poll of all the different buggies made? Ivanpah is calling........... I've got the the newest (?) where both the tubes connect to the rear by a L-shaped piece of stainless-steel sideways. This is an improvement to the ones connecting on the top, one crash and the buggy starts folding.... I am worried about the forces on both the tubes and the L-shaped hook. because the hook is not perfectly straight, the tube slightly turns on the hook and therefor tightens to the hook. I have to take a look at the bolts, perhaps they can be tightened a bit more, so the tubes cannot turn. c-u emiel Emiel Stroeve The Netherlands miel@knoware.nl --------------------------------------------------------------------------- <<< *** http://www.euronet.nl/users/mielse/index.html *** >>> = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 19 Feb 1996 12:14:04 -1000 From: kichiwa@eskimo.com (Mike Eason) Message-Id: Organization: Not Much! It's been accross the pucker bumps at Mirage on three trips there, to Ivanpah once, to Alvord once, on the Bonneville salt flats once, and many miles on the Washington and Oregon beaches. It has somewhere in excess of 400 miles on it with no problems, save for a second set of tires and they're getting bald too. >Ivanpah is calling........... >John Only 18 days, 16 hours, and 42 minutes to go! ...Beeep! -- Mike Eason or Media Specialist, Everett Community College, Everett, Washington, USA NL Editor, SCI-FI (Snohomish County Incredible Flying Individuals Kite Club) Organizers of: Jetty Island Kite Festival, 7/96 Washington State Sport Kite Championship, Casey Conf. I think most of the damage was done while riding in water. I've bent footpegs on my Lynn comp but only when flying very powered up and pulling a tandem through a foot of water. I've been using the frontend from a folding buggy and haven't had any problems wiht it. The new comps have a similar heavy duty fork and pegs which should stand up to the most extreme buggiers demands. [snip] I've had my Flexi/Lynn buggy for over a year now and have been very pleased with it. I *did* break off one of the foot pegs at the weld on the front fork but Flexi replaced it for me with no quibble - Good service guys!! It's not good in the tricks department as I have quite a bit of trouble doing wheelies sometimes (I've a sneaky suspicion thats how the foot peg broke...), but maybe that's just me?? Have heard some people slag it off in favour of the Lynn comp etc, but Hey, its my buggy and it does what I want it to so it has got to be good for me!! Does anyone make/sell a tandem connection for the Flexi buggy? ------------------------------------------------- | Paul Chandler | York Kite Flyers | BBC Member | |-------------------------------------------------| | Paul@FreeWind.demon.co.uk | = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 21 Feb 1996 09:20:59 -1000 From: David Town Message-Id: <312B709B.C49@ix.netcom.com> Organization: Netcom Subject: Flexi buggy problems? I did have the buggy in the water a lot last summer, and I'm sure I stressed the foot pegs a lot. I'd head straight for the ocean at 30 mph and plow into the waves... BIG splash, and stress on the pegs as I braced for the impact. But I think the thing that really did in the pegs was riding the sand dunes. The soft sand of the dunes really puts drag on the wheels. The wind was cranking all day and I took full advantage. At any rate, the walls of the fork where the pegs attach finally gave out. Not surprising considering the abuse I gave it over the miles. I had way over 1000 miles of hard riding. I took it to a welding shop and they were able to reinforce and re-weld the fork for me, and it's been serving me since. The new model Flexi buggy has more robust fork steel, and I haven't been able to bend the new pegs (yet). 17 more days 'till Ivanpah. Don't forget to bring an extra set of tires if you're using the standard w'barrow tires. That baked lakebed wears the rubber right off. I put a slight bend in the axel of my P/L classic, whilst dune jumping on Padre Island TX last Oct.. It was a 2 ft. high dune, and I also ripped the seat harness out when I landed. I am under 200 lbs, so go figure. Is this unusual? = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
