This year we have some major sponsors and a few major volunteers. Hey this is gonna be one great event. Project for the Labor Day weekend at this beach resort will be over 100,000 tourists looking for something to do. The kite festival will be held on a peninsula of a beach with a carnival at the entrance. There will be an auction at the banquet. So if your going you had better get those reservation in now. For more information call Colettet Ratajski at (512) 729-2448, she'll send you a registration form and some other info. Oh and guess what? Mr. Nasty is going to be announcing. So if your wondering what all the hoopla is about this would be a great time to see first hand. The Bonneville Buggy Enduro - by Bob Childs and It's A Breeze Yes the race is on. 10 - 25 - 50 and more miles on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The races will be timed for the record. And HOT, it will be HOT, so don't come dressed in your skimpiest things, (I don't want to loose my appetite) else you will be burnt in places where the sun didn't shine before. Bring SPF 90 if you can find it. (I know Mark, there is no such thing, you twit, it's a joke.) And this is the W*O*R*L*D's first AKA sanctioned Buggy Event. And, yes you guessed it, Mr. Nasty will be there. So if you need that extra slap or kick to get you going, if your feeling too good about yourself and need to come back down to earth, I'll be there to bring reality back into your cob web cluttered mind. Oh by the way, a serious note, (I bet you thought I couldn't be serious, your so naive. Wanna candy?) Bob is in need of a few volunteers who are experienced in first aide. It seems the ambulance wants $55. an hour. If your interested call Bob Childs at (303) 440-6303. Clinton Kite Festival Sept 17 - 18, 1994 call Gerald Kelly at (405) 323-1235 No you moron not a festival for the President. The one in Clinton, OK. Just 40 minutes out of Oklahoma City in Oklahoma, down I20. Gerald Kelly, Troy Gunn and Larry Christensen hold the final event within the SWSKC. It's here we pass out the SWSKC Championship Pins. This is the same place where they discovered the talents of the wonderful person, your friend and mine, Mr. Nasty. (Thank you, Thank you very much.) Last year we were not without wind. I don't think the whole state of OK is without wind. Sunday we had the Mystery Ballet. As Terry Crumpler set up his kite the winds were gusting up to 35mph. The music started and Terry took off. Not 15 seconds into his routine his kite exploded. Not a pretty site, funny, but not too pretty. If your going to attend this one, leave the light stuff home. Just a warning. And the battle continues. Roks, Roks, Roks. (Mark, that's not an acronym, quit trying to figure it out.) This is a two day event with a banquet and auction on Saturday. Come prepared to laugh your A-- off. Also, Two other events: Silver City, New Mexico - Cielo Encantado Fiesta October 8 - 9, 1994 Home of Bob Ingraham founder of the AKA. I talked with Hazel last week and she said Bob is not feeling well. She did say that he has made a few kites so that's good news. She said that he has led a long and good life. She says thanks to everyone for the cards and letters. (Even the one you sent, Mark.) This year they are not going to try and get the contestants, who haven't come in the past, they are just holding a local home town event. I'm going, just to announce. Crescent City Kite Festival - New Orleans, LA Nov 5 - 6, 1994 call the Kite Loft Talked with Stu the other day and we got the field on UNO campus. This is a great field and another wonderful event. Usually filled with families and other potential kiters, (which no kite manufacturer has ever taken advantage of). The event is hosted by the Crescent City Kite Flyers kite club and the Kite Loft in New Orleans. This is an AKA sanctioned event on the SWSKC. For the best time this is the spot. You just can't beat the night life. The event is great and the folk down there treat you like a king. Last year we had a banquet at a local restaurant which served up some of the finest seafood with that New Orleans twist. An event with more geared toward families and fun. Yes there is competition but it's not the focal point. We don't want to loose our audience of spectators with a bunch of big headed stuffy competitors. The event is fun and always has been. So if you are one of those stuffy snooty stuck-on-yourself competitors, you'll probably not be there. But if you enjoy the fun of kiting and the friendship of other kiters, you'll call up and make reservations today. Oh by the way, Stu has asked me, (Mr. Nasty) to go and help with the event. See you there. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
