The AKA Convention rules would do for starters but I suspect that there are many variations worldwide. I hope to post the Canterbury Kite Festival rules soon. I think it is a control assessment competition rather than combat. That was the style last year but the competition got cancelled due to the squally weather - this year the weather forecast is perfect :-) Bye, = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 18 Jan 1995 07:10:41 -1000 From: dgomberg@ednet1.osl.or.gov (David Gomberg) Message-Id: <199501181710.AA10464@ednet1.osl.or.gov> Organization: Harvard University Office of Information Technology Subject: Fighter Competition Rules Colin asked about rules used in Fighter Kite Competitions. AKA has a booklet titled "Fighter Kite and Competition Rules". It includes safety information, event procedures, and rules for six different types of fighter contests, plus a section on Rok battles. The total length of the book is 20 pages. Sorry that we can't post the book here as Colin requested, but it is copyrighted by AKA. The cost is only $3 for AKA members and $5 for others. You can call the AKA office at 503-717-0627 (fax also) and give them a credit card number. That's the fastest way to get publications. BTW - I believe this is the ONLY compilation of published rules for fighters and rokkakus that lists several different types of events. Line contact, freestyle, general skill and cutting line are all covered. Out here in the wild wild west we go head to head. The flyer sets up his kite and must have 50' of line out minimum. 10' downwind of the flyer the oponent gets three shells of 12 gage trap load. After three shots, the kite comes down, and holes are counted. 1 point for every positive hole. If the kite is rendered unflyable (blown out of the sky, shattered spine, etc.), 10 points. Each switch places and the round starts up again. First person to 25 points wins. carl ___________________________________________________ email: crowell@kite.com FTP: ftp.teleport.com/pub/users/crowell WWW: http://www.teleport.com/~crowell Kites By Carl Crowell - O.S.F.M.
