Instead of using police tape, use survey line with police tape ribbons tied on the survey line every two to three feet(about five between poles or stakes), this makes a little more work for set up but more than makes up for it in take down. Also if it is real windy the line stays in place, unlkike the police tape which bends and stretches with the wind. The survey line is quite a bit cheaper than the tape. We have used this method at several Eastern League Events with great success. It is both more visually attractive, more environmentally sound(less plastic), and less work which of course is always welcome to an all volunteer crew. Hint:Make sure you tie the ribbons (we use two foot lengths) real tight on the line, or the wind will blow them all down to the leeward side. If you tie the line to the stakes with half hitches, it is fairly easy to re-use the line by winding it up on a large real, stripping the ribbons off as you go. Metal spikes! The *worst* thing about kite festivals is that they take a perfectly good flying field and cover it with kite-destroying spikes. Crowd control barriers are better, but long tails, socks and stuff still find sharp edges and hooks. That was another thing that was good about the buggy boogie thang - no spikes! Cut a slit and put them on top of the stakes to protect kites (and people) from the sharp ends. A line that hits the side of the stake won't slide off as easily, but it seems the lesser of two evils. --Pete "A man who would spend money on a psychiatrist needs his head examined." = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
