Someone has already posted the dates for Long Beach. In July and August there are events in Oregon and/or Washington states almost every weekend. Most are along the coast. Also one in Vancouver, British Columbia, July 17-18. July 10-11, Fairfield Kite Festival, California (Fairfield is about 1.5 hours from San Francisco, on Highway 80, toward Sacramento). Local/regional festival. July 24-25, Berkeley Kite Festival, California. Emphasis on sport kite competition, but increasing interest in single-line. Regional/national. Between the west coast and Fargo, there isn't much happening....the schedule I have (the AKA magazine "Kiting") only goes through July; the current schedule from "Kite Lines" magazine is through June. Let me know if you want details for Oregon/Washington/British Columbia. You could also try Kite Lines for July/August events (410-922-1212, fax 410-922-4262). Many accommodations for Long Beach are booked a year in advance, so if you decide to go there, you should make reservations now, or plan on staying some distance away.
