And I had problems with news server, that's why this is a little late. Hope it comes through this time. My vented Revolution sometimes called a 'Ventolution' or 'Storm Revolution'. was developed by me right after FANO-93. At FANO-93 we also had very strong winds and I decided I must do something about it. I built my one and only in early August, 1993. It first appeared public at a small kite festival in southern Germany at Schwabisch-Gmund followed by the German Nationals and then the Europa Cup. Since this time a few copies have appeared, which I fully welcomed. I will not produce this for anyone else however you are all, as far as I am concerned fully welcome to use my idea. At FANO-94 the 'Ventolution' really took a beating. Quite a few people flew it in wind strengths up to 7Bf. Despite the spars were heavily sanded at a few points, they withstood all beating we gave it. The Spars are original Revolution 4 wrap spars. The bungees started to rip the sail a little at both lower tips and ripped the dacron severely at the upper end of the vertical spars. Both places must be reinforced with several layers of dacron or something tougher. The leading edge screen was also ripped at one point for about 10cm. My screening is rubber coated fiberglass. Does any one know of any tougher such as rubber coated kevlar or spectre? The 'Ventolution' is still flyable, despite the damage. My ultra-light Revolution that I flew indoors is a full-size Rev. I. I decreased the weight of the sail by 50 grams from my original ultra-light >From Revolution. The material weight is 20 gram spinnaker in a Red colour similar to Icarex, I dont remember who the mfr. is. The screening I used is from a tent. There is no bridle as such, easier for the javelin and come-to-me. I attach the lines to the end caps of the vertical spars. I used the original Revolution I, 2 wrap ultra-light spars. BTW, I can't recommend this so-called bridle in winds, you might pop a spar very quickly. Sorry I missed the indoor flying in the Riding Hall. The information got to me quite late and to top it off the The fuel injector failed on my car and it had to be towed via the ferry to VW in Ebsjerg, got it back on Wednesday. Monday was wonderful weather just perfect for most kites 2.5 to 3.5Bf all day plenty of sun and sunburns, better then Friday. Tuesday was catostrophic heavy rain and heavy winds. If you take a close look at a Revolution kite, note that the dacron at the upper end of the vertical spars are reinforced with Kevlar. It can be seen if you peek under the strip. You could probably use the same method for the other areas as well. I think that Hang'em High sells the stuff. (Noticed it in the last catalog.) You can also find scraps of kevlar material at sail maker shops.
