Our Regulatory authority in New Zealand is proposing to adopt a new rule taken from the regulations in the USA which requires a kite line to have banners or streamers every 50 feet where the flying line is higher than 150 feet. Our members have asked what are the requirements in Europe. Will someone in say Germany please tell us what regulations apply there. And it would be interesting to know what are the requirements in France for instance. Does anyone know whether there is anything in the FAI regulations which applies to kites ? In Germany you're allowed to fly kites up to 100 Meter *line length*. Nearby airports (radius 3 Kilometres) Kiteflying is forbidden. If you're planning a kite festival in Germany, you can get a permission >From the "Bundesluftfahrtministerium" (which is the departement for Air traffic) for a maximum line length of 400 meters (never heard that they've allowed a longer line length). You then have to mark the line every 100 meter. Breezy greetings, Dieter (Fun unlimited) E-Mail me at: *MausNet*: Dieter Sattler @ H.maus.de No Mails > 16 Kb !!!
