First, it does not save any appreciable amount of time compared to other methods. Second, it is kind of messy.... other people may disagree, but I agree with Peter that it sticks to the needle. So I recommend only to use it if you don't want sewing on the kite (see KiteLines article early this year or ask Tom from hangem high). I also tried other sticky stuff like all the nice toxic 3M sprays (77 and so on....) Even more messy, not only on the ripstop but everywhere near the place where I spray around. And toxic. And has to be removed from the ripstop.... So, up in the chemical waste collection for toxic stuff. I don't buy this anymore..... Best solution: Soldering Pencil with a fine tip. Gives small wholes but: - when you use it for seems, these wholes are on the backside of the kite. :-) nice :-) I use that method for making seems in my patchwork kites. - when you use it for applications the whole in front is rather small. When done carefully not larger then the wholes from the needle. So I put them under the seems and sew with a close zick-zack over it. That way the wholes are invisible and I don't have to remove anything from the finished kite. :-) nice :-) The but: Sometimes I don't exactly sew over the little holes. Later, when I remove the excess ripstop it happens: my little sissor cuts all layers here. :-( not nice :-( but when I put another piece of ripstop on from the back only people wo look very carefully on the back will see it. How toxic? I guess this also includes 3M photomount and 3M remount? Read the laben and don't inhale that stuff. I am working in Chemistry at MIT and we have to work in the hood with such solvents by health reasons. By the way, most of these solvents when inhaled long enough over years degrade the brain. No kidding. The intelligence of a person degrades too. It's not only liver and cancer risc.
