Another 3-4 miles on I-5 to Hwy 14 (the antelope valley freeway) Approx 25 miles to Palmdale. From Hwy 14, take the Palmdale blvd. Hwy 138 s exit Corey says buy a map and get a beer. Go east until 48th st. where the hwy takes a swing south (right). Use the left lane exit to stay on Palmdale blvd. Continue east on Palmdale to 240th st. (a "T" intersection) turn left then right in one mile on El Mirage rd. Go 7 miles to El Mirage access rd.. wooden signs on the north side of the road marks the access. Follow the road 2-3 miles until you find the cross road with a stop sign. This is the smoothest route onto the lake bed. Drive to the far end of the lake bed about 3-4 miles. The good news is that the DISCOVERY CHANNEL wants to film a show about the technical aspects of buggying. The Discovery show "NEXT STEP" will take an educational approach to buggying, how buggy's and power kites are made, how they work, any new or experimental vehicles, kites, gadgets and gizmos... The show will also give an overall view of the fun, freedom and sport buggying represents and provide us with the opportunity for yet another "No Brains Desired" weekend in the desert. his non event will be held Aug 26-27 at El Mirage Dry Lake, CA (directions to follow). Ted Dougherty and I will be arriving Fri night probably at the Days Inn and out on the lake Sat late morning. The Discovery Channel is planning to film Sun. afternoon so plan to stay late.
