We plan on gathering a group and spending numerous days exploring as many sites as possible. Taking place perhaps in the dry parts of 1997. Spring thru Fall. We do not yet have firm dates as we wish to include as many interested buggy riders as possible. We are looking for input, opinions, desires, dreams or what-have-you. Any interested pilots are encouraged to comment and question. aoxomoxoa coreykite@aol.com = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 23 Feb 1996 19:10:16 -1000 From: Darrin Skinner Message-Id: <2.2.32.19960224051016.00aa815c@rahul.net> Organization: Division of Applied Sciences, Harvard University Subject: Re: Desert Buggy Safari Can someone repost the original message? Subject: Re: Desert Buggy Safari There's a whole bunch of dry lakes in NE Nevada! Haven't been there yet but Dale and Calvin Vanderhoof spent most of last summer exploring the area and sent me a great map with some details of the terrain and conditions, etc. I'd like to see and buggy Black Rock. Dale says not to go there without a compass, it's so big! I think he said it's about 18 by 45 miles! How about some long distance racing? Maybe with a beer truck in the lead? On memorial day weekend, in May, a bunch from the land of major flooding, the Northwest Buggy Slushers Association, are all heading to Alvord Desert (dry lake) in SE Oregon. It's SE of Burns, at Fields, OR. Camping, RVs on lake o.k. Limited facilities in Fields. This one's big enough to disappear over the horizon on, an alternate emergency landing site for the space shuttle. It's about 11 hours from Seattle, or about 8 hours >From San Francisco.
