Thanks, David for offering to correspond with us on the issues. > The fellow is rude. Courtesy is important in these matters. > Discourteous people are not important. I'm really sorry you feel this way. I also get tired of some of the apparant tactlessness of others, but I try to understand what the person is trying to say. If you were in a movie theater and Frank yelled, "Fire!", would you check to see if he was right? I would, even if it was (tactlessly) in the middle of the best scene! I'm not trying to defend Frank (he doesn't seem to need my help ;-) but I do believe (as others, even Marty at times) he has had some valid points and questions regarding AKA rules, standards and sport kite rating/ranking/scoring. I do not have Frank in a kill file, so even if you and other members of the AKA board do, you can rest assured that if Frank brings up a point that has also bothered me, I will (politely) ask you about it. Is that fair enough? > I will also admit that I was personally offended by his > "Jews in the Sky" remark. Frank says it was a typo. His > past performance suggests otherwise. Yes, I would also be offended at such a remark if it was intended! If you had been here longer, and seen the flames come roaring up regarding Frank's editor (too long line length), and typos, you might be more generous. That is his past (and present) performance. > Jews - Jewels? Hey, anyone could have made that mistake. Right! > And his response? Your 'STUNK KITES' is the first book I bought on sport kiting and I truly enjoyed it! I hope you continue to add to the general knowledge of rec.kites. The views of a president of the AKA should be enlightening. Skip -- Skip Wright swright@ix.netcom.com ...... Play walter.wright@shrmed.com ... In a few days, a whole new team will be taking over at AKA, but I am confident that they will remain VERY open to constructive suggestions and critique. Good ideas can come from almost anywhere. Sometimes you just have to sift them out from a lot of "other" ideas. Sounds like you are willing to help. Thanks! Would I look around if someone yelled FIRE! in a crowded theater? You bet. But if they did it regularly, and I never saw any smoke, I'd start to get tired and stop listening. On another note - Hey! - Thanks for the kind comments about my stunt kite book. Susie and I are giving some thought to producing it on video. What do you think? We are also expanding our business, not that I have a bit of free time. Our retail focus will be on LARGE showkites - Peter Lynn, Martin Lester, big flowforms and spinsocks. No one seems to really be featuring them at reasonable prices here in the US. And of course, we'll continue with our kite pin newsletter too. So have a GREAT new year, and thanks again for your kind comments.
