I saw some guy on the beach flying one, and I was impressed with its looks! I also found out from him that it's possible to set it up with quadlines. I heard that the center of the guy is weak and often breaks! Does anyone know if these assumptions are true? I was also wondering if anybody had one they were willing to sell. I live in Los Angeles, Ca. area incase you're near me you might be able to sell it! I would be happy to know any information anybody has! -Damon -dneedel@ucrengr.ucr.edu = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = From: steveth@netcom.com (Steve Thomas) Subject: Re: Cyborg kite Message-ID: <1993Feb4.172941.21965@netcom.com> Date: Thu, 4 Feb 93 12:29:41 EST Organization: VisionAire, San Francisco, CA In article <25741@galaxy.ucr.edu> dneedel@ucrengr.ucr.edu (damon needelman) writes: >I was wondering if anyone out there knew the pros and cons about the Cyborg >kite? Everybody should have a Cyborg :-). As far as flying characteristics go, it is slow and precise, and fairly responsive. It flies fairly well in lighter winds. I've never heard of the center-piece breaking--but I've also never seen a 'Borg quadlined, either. Finding a 'Borg may not be easy, but you can always order one directly from Mike Sterling in Portland. The Cyborg is a "hand-made" kind of kite, complete with Mike Sterling's signature and kite number. Mike Sterling (see the cover of the new American Kite) is a very talented kitemaker, and will make you a very beautiful kite if you talk to him (his prices are pretty resonible, too). _________ Steve Thomas steveth@rossinc.com = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = From: daveb@pogo.wv.tek.com (Dave Butler) Subject: Re: Cyborg kite Message-ID: <14355@pogo.wv.tek.com> Date: Thu, 4 Feb 93 20:42:11 EST Organization: Tektronix, Inc., Wilsonville, OR. The man to ask though, is the man who invented and manufactures them: Mike Sterling 2514 SE Ankeny #4 Portland, Or. 97214 Ph: 503-234-3604 Fax: 503-239-7142 Mike is an incredible artist, and if you want to see some of his other work, he and his "Elvis" kite was on the front cover of one of the recent big kiting magazines (I'll have to go home and check which one). I began to feel that I lived on a higher plane than the skeptics of the ground; one that was richer because of its very association with the elements of danger they dreaded, because it was freer of the earth to which they were bound. In flying I tasted the wine of the gods of which they could know nothing... Charles A. Lindbergh Jr. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
