My apologies if this is a duplicate posting. This was the first year that the Chicago Sport Kite Festival had an indoor fly. I sincerely hope that it is not the last. The indoor fly was a mystery ballet in which the competitor did not hear the music until he started to fly. The winners were selected with an applause meter. I was hoping that one of the other rec.kiters who was there was going to post something on this as I can only remember a few of the 15 competitors names. However, rec.kites own Steve Thomas (the original) absolutely blew away the competition flying a stack of two indoor XTCs. Sam Ritter turned in a very good performance flying a Rev, but nobody came close to Steve's performance. Second and third place when to Brian Schackmuth (Rev) and Peter Werba (XTC indoor). Curtis Mitchell and somebody else from Synergy both flew indoor Synergy Deccas. Charlie Sotich (sp?) of single line and micro kite fame started off the competition flying a very light single line delta. He did a great job and started off the competion on a light hearted note. All of the other competitors flew either quad or dual line kites until the very end when a last minute entry flew one of Charlie's micro box kites. The more serious (sorta) part of the competion showcased the skills of a truly impressive group of fliers. The indoor fly was fantastic, how the rest of the festival went I can't say as I was a volunteer all weekend and did not see much of the competition :-(. I am looking forward to the next festival I travel to, where I will volunteer for at most a couple of hours. However, I do not regret the work I did for our local festival and will probably do the same again next year. Any input >From rec.kiters who attended would be appreciated as we will all too soon be working on next years festival. ----------------- Al Sparling Naperville, Il ajs@stairs.nw.att.com = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
