But I don't think the answer is to set a deadline (one month was suggested) and then simply not count the event. That penalizes the fliers who spent time and money to attend the event. (Anyone been reading the thread on "False Advertising"?) I suggest the Competition Committee consider not sanctioning events NEXT YEAR if they don't meet reporting deadlines THIS YEAR. That way, the event organizer gets punished, not the participants. (Anyone been reading the thread on "False Advertising"?) If this is so, and I realize this is only your opinion, then the AKA takes the responsibility of the event organizer, which is not true. The event organizer excercises the right to sanction their event and therefore should comply with all the sanctioning requirments. It is the event organizer who is responsible and not the AKA. In a matter which an event organizer advertises an event as being something which it is not, and people attend the event then the event organizer is responsible to those contestants. I realize the question of liability is a legal question, but the point would not have been brought up if other, kiters not on-line, did not bring up the point. As far as counting the points, the AKA's ranking qualifying system is not only unfair but then inaccurate. If the AKA is going to wait until infinity for all the events to submit scores then how will any know who is qualified? With the technology today events have access to a lot of computer scoring systems. I for one have developed a very good system which is free. The scores can be printed to a file and sent via modem, fax or e-mail to anyone including Darrin for input. Why not use that technology to our advantage. If an event cannot comply by submitting the scores within one month then their scores will not be counted. Period. As far as not granting sanctioning for the next year...Well let's just say I have yet to see that happen. >I suggest the Competition Committee consider not sanctioning >events NEXT YEAR if they don't meet reporting deadlines THIS YEAR. >That way, the event organizer gets punished, not the participants. I do not suggest punishing anyone. (Although I am not a kite god, therefore I do not think in terms of punishment.) I feel that by allowing events the privilige to submit score at their lesiure penalizes the participants and therefore if the AKA allows this method of submitting scores they are infact "punishing" the participant. Meanwhile the event organizer gets away with another farse. -- *************>>>>>>>>>>>>>MR.NASTY<<<<<<<<<<<<<************** Fiesta Kite Ideas http://www.tmn.com/kiteweb/home.htm 8302 Tiguex Mr.Nasty@ix.netcom.com Universal City, TX 78148 (210) 659-1803 or (512) 326-6221 ************************************************************* = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
