I live close to the beach, so I do my flying there. The kite gets sand and salt all over it. My question is "what should I do to prolong the life of the kite - rinse with water or something else?" Thank you for your help. mark "I only crashed in the water once" heinze -- Encore Computer Corporation 6901 W Sunrise Boulevard Mark Heinze Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33313 email: mheinze@encore.com Telephone: (305) 797-2325 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1993 01:46:30 -1000 From: jeffy@syrinx.umd.edu (Jeffrey C. My question is "what should I do to >prolong the life of the kite - rinse with water or something else?" Your best bet is to just rinse the kite with water. Do *not* use any kind of detergent! It's safe to use pretty hot water. Do *not* spray the kite with a hard stream of water, as this can stretch the fabric. In fact, the safest thing to do is to take all the sticks out of the kite and soak/swish it around in a tub of water. However, it can be very confusing to figure out how to put your kite back together at first! You might want to try taking out the sticks in just one wing and then putting it back together. That way, you have the other side of the kite to give you hints. Don't take the whole thing apart 'til you're confident you can get it all back together... >mark "I only crashed in the water once" heinze Salt water can be quite harsh on a sail. You should definitely wash it off... Jeff -- |Jeffrey C.
