I am not in favour of an extra trick-event. Competitions now already have tight time schedules and sometimes it is difficult to compete in more than two events because of overlaps. The European Cups are always a good examples where some flyers compete in quad, individual and team/pairs. Pure trick-flying should come under the Free-Style (innovative). (BTW: why was this event renamed? There are so much misunderstanding about it :-( ) = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 26 Jan 1996 13:17:45 -1000 From: 101551.321@compuserve.com (Gertraud Umlauft) Message-Id: <4eantl$7ve@dub-news-svc-5.compuserve.com> Organization: compuserve Subject: Re: changing equipment Peter Leclercq wrote: >On 14 Jan 1996, Gertraud Umlauft wrote: >> But if I think about the effect, the posiibility to change the kite >> would bring, I think this would not be for the benefit of the sport itself. >> In precision there should be showed the skill to fly given figures as >> precise as possible. (BTW: why was this event renamed? There are so >much misunderstanding about it :-( ) I am a lillte bit astonished to find my privat mail to you quoted here in rec.kite. I did sent it as answer to a privat mail sent from you. To your proposals: 1. Flying 10 compulsories would take too much time: one compulsory figure needs aproximately 20-30 sec., the judges dicision lasts 1-1.30 min., so each figure needs ca 2 min, this would be 20 minutes for each competitor only for the compulsories (without any delay and further waiting), plus 2 (5) min. for the freestyle and again 2-3 min for the judges. This can bee 30 min for each competitor! 2. Putting trick flying in Frestyle (former Innovative) would not be very good. My personal opinion is, that Freestyle/Innovative should bring real innovation and prior to all a really good show. It should not be restricted to dual line flyers. There should be room for whatever multiline flyers, may be we have in the next years 3- or 5- line kites? A trick flying competition could bring forward the dual line flying - a Freestyle (Innovative) competition could promote all kite flying not being included in the dual- and quadline regulations, e.g. mixture of different kites, using special equipment, flying with more than one kite at the same time ... Who knows now, what will be possible in the future? Greetings from Vienna Gertraud Umlauft = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
