Can you tell me what are the difference between these rods and the classical ones? The one negatif I can see is that they break easily (From a friend point of view, using a blackbird kite...) Wrapped carbon (as opposed to pultruded carbon) rods are in general: - Lighter - Stiffer - More fragile But we can be a lot more specific than this. Go to http://www.kfs.org/kites and look for spars in the reference section to read up on the valuable practical research conducted by Simo Salanne, David Lord and others. They tend to be _very_ rigid and break easier. Two wrap or three wrap is usualy what I use, they are heavier, but don't break as easy. What ever you do, wear gloves when dealing with broken carbon spars. The splinters they give are worse than fiber-glass!
