Aerial Kinetics - Stretch Tucker- also does Roks. 305.523.3054. Supremely beautiful foils also. Me, Dave Arnold, also makes a pretty mean custom Rok and genkis. High as a Kite - Ty Billings - 415.669.1830. They are the cool tie dye people. No two kites are exactly the same pattern. For some of the most beautiful Roks in the world, contact Ty Billings... he does all sorts of custom applique work in addition to his famous Tye Dye kites...I'm sure there are a number of other excellent builders but Ty really does have some great stuff at affordable prices. Can't sew? I don't believe you. You havn't tried, have you? Get thyself to someone with a sewing machine, they can teach you all you need to know (a simple seam and a roll-hem) in 10 minutes. Not being able to stand being left out of the battles, they went to a local grocery store, bought garbage bags, tape and sticks. And fabricated a Rok, without a stitch or fabric. They also finished fairly well as I recall. If you don't want to try sewing, there is tyvek, plastic, fabric with doublesided tape, a whole host of options. Give it a try. It is exilerating when your own creation really works. 8^) Alice Hayden = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 14 Aug 1995 06:52:58 -1000 From: sc5@prism.gatech.edu (SPC) Message-Id: <40nv1a$e4e@acmex.gatech.edu> Organization: Georgia Institute of Technology Subject: Re: Can't sew, but I want a Rokaku anyway ! I wanted a Cody Compund (not to be confused with a war/bat) but nobody made one. Soultion: Learn to sew. And, btw, you should be able to buy a decent sewing machine and materials for what it would take to buy a custom from the previously mentioned sources. Not that your results will be nearly as good for a first effort, but it is something to think about. Roks, genkis, rollers, stunt kites, all types of kites. The adhesive is a 3M product ... the type is the A-10 family, and the product number that people have found most useful is 9460PC. There have been several workshops at kite retreats, clubs in the Pacific Northwest have done experiments with it, and the Winter-Spring issue of Kite Lines (Vol 11 No 2) had an article by Dick Curran titled 'Kitemaking with Adhesives' Anne -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * Anne Rock | * * rock@netcom.com | * * Berkeley, CA | * - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
