I did manage to get hooked up with Sky Delight kites here in Austin and talked to the owner and designer, Joel Scholz. I wound up getting a "Kestral" stunter -- really nice & lightweight. Can't wait to fly it. For anyone in the Central Texas area, Austin is having a kite festival & contest this weekend at Zilker park. I've been a couple of times and it's a blast. -- Keath Milligan Real/Time Communications Austin, Texas reaper@wixer.cactus.org (512)459-4391 2400bps (512)459-4396 v.32bis = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 10 Mar 1993 12:36:10 -0500 From: Rick.Nelson@f10.n106.z1.fidonet.org (Rick Nelson) Message-ID: <731804679.AA00733@urchin.fidonet.org> Subject: Can't find the FAQ KM> I'm looking for some tips on getting set up with a stunt kite that will KM> perform under relatively light wind conditions and a source for kites & KM> kiting accessories somewhere in Texas. I don't know where you can get them in Austin, but if you want to drive to Houston one weekend, you can go to a place called Kites Unlimited in the Galleria, or the Camera Exchange (which usually has better prices). = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: 11 Mar 93 20:28:27 GMT From: reaper@wixer.cactus.org (Keath Milligan) Message-ID: <1993Mar11.202827.1579@wixer.cactus.org> Organization: Real/Time Communications Subject: Re: Can't find the FAQ In article <731804679.AA00733@urchin.fidonet.org> Rick.Nelson@f10.n106.z1.fidonet.org (Rick Nelson) writes: > KM> I'm looking for some tips on getting set up with a stunt kite that will > KM> perform under relatively light wind conditions and a source for kites & > KM> kiting accessories somewhere in Texas. > >I don't know where you can get them in Austin, but if you want to drive to >Houston one weekend, you can go to a place called Kites Unlimited in the >Galleria, or the Camera Exchange (which usually has better prices). Well, as it turns out, we have a first-class kite maker right here in Austin, Sky Delight Kites. They make the Neptune, which has received very good marks in magazines, and more recently, the Kestral, a slightly modified version of the Neptune. After talking with Joel Scholz, the owner/designer for Sky Delight, I was referred to a hobby store in town and picked up a Kestral. It's a great kite and flies good in 3mph wind. -- Keath Milligan Real/Time Communications Austin, Texas reaper@wixer.cactus.org (512)459-4391 2400bps (512)459-4396 v.32bis = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
