Ta, Peter. 1/ Which of the following main points do you feel are the most important for a good all round buggy (tick 2) Performance? Comfort? Light Weight? Shape? Easily Transported? Low Cost? Any other? 2/ Please state what type of buggy you own/use. 3/ What good/bad points does your buggy have? 4/ What type of Wheel do you prefer and why? 5/ Finally, What is the one feature that you feel all buggies need to be successful? Many thanks in advance, Andrew Farrell. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 21 Feb 1996 05:11:45 -1000 From: ahclem0013@aol.com (AhClem0013) Message-Id: <4gfcnh$6ob@newsbf02.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc. It's good points are that it is light weight, fast, sturdy, portable, stainless, easy to do tricks with, and holds its value. The bad points are being removed with each sucessive model. All most all the problems have been solved. 4/ What type of Wheel do you prefer and why? Peter Lynn three spoke alloy/stainless. For their weight, and strength. They look really cool, also. 5/ Finally, What is the one feature that you feel all buggies need to be successful? They muct work, which is more than one feature. They have to be portable, competitive, safe, and fast. It also helps if they don't rust and don't weigh a ton. >> Good luck. aoxomaticlydean = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Thu, 22 Feb 1996 13:13:52 -1000 From: andrew@tug.com (Andrew Beattie) Message-Id: Organization: /usr/lib/news/organisation Subject: Re: Buggy Questionnaire Peter Dawson <101602.3723@CompuServe.COM> writes: >1/ Which of the following main points do you feel are the most important >for a good all round buggy (tick 2) > Performance? Criticaly important. However, you must first decide what performance you are after: - Fastest in a straight line? - Fastest round a circuit - Easiest to trick? - Hardest to break? If you optimise for one, you lose on another... > Comfort? As the proud owner of the most uncomfortable buggy on the planet, this must rank pretty low... > Light Weight? Very important. The heavier it is, the harder it is to get it to keep up with you. Look carefuly at the problem. There's no point in building the frame out of pure unobtanium if the wheels are made of lead... > Shape? Don't care. It can be as ugly as you like, provided it doesn't have bits that look like they might hurt me. > Easily Transported? I take my buggy by air, so yes, but many buggies are seldom disassembled. > Low Cost? Not if it means cutting corners. > Any other? Yes. The technology has barely been explored. Everyone is copying, not innovating. There is plenty of room for improvement. >2/ Please state what type of buggy you own/use. A somewhat old, somewhat modified Lynn tandem. >3/ What good/bad points does your buggy have? Good: - Very high pegs for good power handling - Tandem for maximum fun - Tandem for maximum ballast - Buggy hooks for *maximum* power handling - Double axel for maximum sideforce Bad; - Very high footpegs for minimum comfort - Buggy hooks in thigh and strap under leg for further reduced comfort - Double axel for minimum turning radius >4/ What type of Wheel do you prefer and why?
