I looked on a filelist that I got from Kevin (BTW I don't think I ever thanked Kevin for it. Kevin, if you see this.. a belated thankyou!!) but did not see any buggy plans. Besides, without internet access FTPMAIL is a bit tricky..would be a lot easier if someone has some plans and can email them to me. Any help is appreciated. There are plans for a buggy in the book Stunt Kites II. In general a good book, but I think that it contains a few errors. Dont know how good the buggy plans are. Beyond my abilities for sure! If you have some experience with welding you may want to give them a try. I considered building this buggy for a while. I actually went and got prices on stainless steel tubing, wheels, etc... In the end though, I purchased a Peter Lynn buggy and was glad I did. The Lynn buggy is well designed, manufactured and a pretty good value. In summary, if you feel you have the skills to build the buggy, by all means, give it a try. The plans are complete and pretty easy to follow. I just chickened out when it came right down to actually firing up the welder. **************************************************************************** * Michael Richter * ...Look well therefore to this One Day * * Weber State University * for it and it alone is Life. * * MRICHTER@cc.weber.edu * -Unknown- * **************************************************************************** = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 23 May 1995 04:47:44 -1000 From: andrewh@holly.harvard.edu (Andrew Hawken) Message-Id: <3pssig$1dh@epsilon.qmw.ac.uk> Organization: Queen Mary & Westfield College, London, UK Subject: Re: Buggy Plans Aaron Bass (76263.3525@CompuServe.COM) wrote: : Is there any way I can get plans for building a buggy? Also is : it worth it to build a buggy rather than buying one? : Thanks : Aaron Stunt Kites II (see the FAQ for details) has plans for a buggy infact for two buggys. One of the authors, Nop, is online somewher and will probably follow this thread up. As for "is it worth it". Is it worth doing 50mph with your nether regions 6" above the ground in a half baked contraption that you lashed together yourself to save$100 ? The answer to that *must* be no. Is it worth spending a lot of time and expending a lot of skill to build a buggy which will be truly individual ? Probably. Will a home made buggy be as good as buggy X ? Probably not. My Lynn buggy is officialy Mark VI, although there have been a lot of intermediate changes and preproduction versions. The story will be the same with most others on the market. Huge amounts of time have been spent on development and tuning. You are unlikely to hit the spot first time, even given the best of plans. Will a home made buggy be as fun as buggy X ? Probably twice the fun. Most kites I have made are twice the fun of their bought counterparts! Is it worth it ? If you have the skills, materials, and time, if the plans are right (and that means right for you, what do you want the buggy for? ) then it may be. I may sound negative towards this, and I considered the plans in SKII before going out and buying a Lynn. The Lynn is the "safe" option in my opinion. Having said that, I may now make the buggy from SKII. One of my friends (Never met him, [hi Peter], but I am sure we will get on great) will have a homemade buggy at Fano and so I will reserve judgement until afterwards. For what ist worth, a couple of us are in the process of building a buggy, although it doesn't look great at the moment, it travels at quite a rate, and to check that it is of reasonable standard we are taking it out this weekend so that some real buggiers can try it and give us a verdict on all our hard work. will let you know whether it requires modifying or if it gets the go ahead. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 6 Jun 1995 08:07:25 -1000 From: joesade@aladdin.co.uk (Joe Said) Message-Id: <3r25f2$k19@alpha.aladdin.co.uk> Organization: SoNet - The first Internet provider on the south coast Subject: Re: Buggy Plans joesade@aladdin.co.uk (Joe Said) wrote: >andrewh@holly (Andrew Hawken) wrote: >>Aaron Bass (76263.3525@CompuServe.COM) wrote: >>: Is there any way I can get plans for building a buggy?
