I would like to congradulate the organizers of Ivanpah who came up with the idea. Keith suggested we have a buggy persuit. This is where two buggies are place at opposite ends of the field. The object is for both buggiers to start racing around a track, (however large or small). Within a given time limit the buggier with the most laps wins. Keith said that it wasn't until one buggier caught up with the other one. But that may take forever if the wind dies. Therefore, we will try and set a time limit. This demo will also be part of the Waco Wind Fest and Sport Kite Competition. If these demo's are sucessful. And I mean sucessful in terms of getting the audience excited. Then we may incorporate them into the SWSKC. If we can get the audience excited then the media will also learn. Maybe then we will not see kites in trees on the 10:00 news. If we begin to see more exciting kite activities captured on the 10:00 news then potential outside sponsors will take notice. Once the outside sponsors take notice then we will begin to see a significant change in kite events. No longer will we need to rob peter to pay paul like so many kite events now do. BTW - did Lee Hussyton already think of this? = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 17 Mar 1995 08:07:48 -1000 From: francis@red.seas.upenn.edu (Francis J Gramkowski Iii) Message-Id: <3kcj5k$dcd@netnews.upenn.edu> Organization: University of Pennsylvania Subject: Re: Buggy demos (Ivanpa) Frank Kenisky (Mr.Nasty@ix.netcom.com) wrote: : Keith Anderson came back from Ivanpah with a great idea he learned from : the event. : I would like to congradulate the organizers of Ivanpah who came up with : the idea. The organizers of the event did not come up with this idea. I got he idea from the Argyle Park (New Zealand) Buggy Racing Club rules. These races were a lot of fun to participate in and to watch. I also feel that pursuit races can add excitment Sport Kite compitions. I think that the it will be a lot easier to get the general public and media excited about pursuit racing than sport kite flying. It is much easier to understand and much more exciting to watch. I am hoping to have some pusuit races at some of the upcoming Eastern League events. Fritz Gramkowski = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
