KTA is from Jan 9-14, so the BBT will be holding forth from the 14th-15th on.. We'll probably be gathering in Sailor's Bay or Walt's Cove, by the whispering aircraft tiedowns.. :-) I'll post a list of local (Adelanto) motels as the time gets closer, and there will be directions posted as well.. Camping is OK on the lakebed, and it's PRIMITIVE.. Also it's quite likely to be pretty cold at night.. -- Dan Rubesh GO Wind Wizard windwiz@west.net FLY A P.O. Just want to add, if you have never been desert buggying, you have not lived. If you want an instant dose of aoxomoxoa, or if your just wondering what some of us have been talking about, here is a chance to find out. The first time we went there, Dodd and i thought Corey and Scott had allready left, we drove across the lake at such a high speed for so long, we thought it was empty. It took us quite awhile at 60mph before we saw anything out there. Meanwhile we were hauling ass over completley buggyable ground. Ivanpah has nothing on El Mirage. As far as i can tell El Mirage has got to go down as one of the premier land sailing places on the planet. And i haven't even mentioned the pucker bumps yet! You haven't lived until you see Fritz with a triple rig pulling invisible Dave Arnold and high Tye over these bumps at speed! or Scott Dyer taking a land sailor where no land sailors have ever sailed (on purpose) before. Or flown Andrew's Ten on lines so long we had to use a car to get from one end to the other. Or heard first hand why a dog licks his --- Even if, God forbid, we had no wind, i can't imagine how we could have a bad time. While it is a bit of a drive to the nearest civilization, which is pretty strange by international standards, you can camp on the lake itself, just don't do it in the middle, some hot rodder might make a speed run at midnight. I've seen airplanes land there, everyone has seen comercials that were filmed there, and many of us buggyd naked there first(find out why). You might even find a magic rock like Corey has, or a town you didn't know exsisted or see the most incredible sunset followed by the most intense dark you have ever seen(where the hell did we leave the camp?)not seen. Whatever you do, if you are a buggyer or your thinking of becoming one, don't miss this event. We might even remember to race for you structured souls who can't figure out what we see in all that expanse of table top flatness, then again we might not, it doesn't matter. You'll see if you come. It is maximum aoxomoxoa. everyone is invited, it is non-organized so expect to take care of your own trips, but come one, come all. Corey will buy you all a shot of Cuervo!! no honest he will!! aoxomoxoa dj = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
