I hope I didn't make the final cut (I am tempted here to make a Bobbit joke, but I'll let your imagination fill in the blanks). I heard that there wasn't a nude segment, but I actually haven't seen that segment yet-- the tape's in the mail. >Also, I think most folks in attendance got an official looking 'permit' >from the United States Office of Tethered Avaition to operate their >buggy.. :-) I forget who made those up, and Corey will likely acknowledge >that person in the next BuggyNewz.. I believe Jeff Cain gets credit for that. He was handing them out. Corey also distributed an official-looking "Official Business" dashboard card also issued by the USOTA. Apparently you can use this to keep your car >From being towed while you're buggying. :-) They where also some nice T's and pins. Scott Dyer made up sterling silver pins for the event they are *amazingly* detailed. The pins who nevada, Ivan Pah, Las Vegas, the event title, date, and a background of buggyiers with mountains in the distance. VERY PRETTY. Scott also did the Buggy Naked pin that he made available to those who were willing to bare their flesh to the elements as they sped across the lake bed---in front of cameras. Photographic evidence is required. The pin is a naked woman on a buggy---also in sterling. I should really take the opportunity here to say that watching men dressed only in sneakers taking the wheels off a buggy to extract tangled lines a pretty sad sight. I saw those guys and figured if they we're willing to do that, I had some buggying partners. We rolled into camp in a group and made quite a spectacle of ourselves. If you didn't get a chance to go to the BBT, you really need to pay attention to the buggying dates mentioned here, set aside some time, and $ and do it. It was inspirational. It was great because of the people there, the beauty of 60+ enormous kites cruising across the desert, the landscape, the speeds, the smooth wind, the long runs, the number of buggy's, the diversity of kites. It's been three weeks since the BBT and I am still pumped! I went buggying last saturday and I am going again Sunday. Incidentally, since we are talking about the BBT, I place I went Saturday was a proposed site for BBT2. As you may have heard, KTA is in Orlando next year. The buggiers around here generally hit the Atlantic Coast at low tide at whatever beach is closest and unpopulated. I went buggying with Curtis Mitchell and Ponce Inlet south of Daytona Beach. We had good wind, but low tide was at 10:45 and we soon started loosing beach. We spent most of the day in a battle with the waterline. I had great luck powering my PLB FTB through water up to the axles. We got very wet and muddy, dumped kites 5 times (3 for me, 2 for Curtis) but had a blast. I guess that's not really my point though. We had a blast, but after 8 hours on the beach a bike cop stops us and informs us that wind powered vehicles are illegal on Volusia county beaches. :-( The worst part is Volusia county owns a lot of good coast line. The Mitchels explained what we do and BBT2 and the annual May festival in Daytona where Peter Lynn visited last year. The cop didn't think there would be problems getting variances for such events. Small consolation when we were are already contemplating our next weekends fun. Buggying is not a crime!!!! Good winds, wide spaces, and no cops, Philip = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
