I use 2 of these knots together (the loop of one through the loop of the other) to repair broken lines. To repair a mid-way cut bridle: Find something of fixed length. A small twig will do. Lie the one out, with the broken ends just touching. Mark the fixed length on the line, one mark each side of the break. This is your reference. When the line is repaired, this distance should be unchanged. Take an extra piece of line and tie it to both broken ends. Adjust until the reference distance is correct.
