Here is a bit of info from the regristration form.

The Bluebonnet Kite Fest site is north of San Marcos at IH 35 (Exit 
208), Tiver Ridge Park and Butler Manufacturing. The event is listed as 
a Sanctioned Event by the American Kiteflyers Association and ranked as 
a South West Sport Kite Conference Event.

San Marcos...A Texas Natural! Home to the Southwest State University and 
crystal clear San Marcos River headwaters. River Awarness month is 
celebrated in April with a Volksmarch the first weekend. Aquarena 
Springs Resort and theme park features Ralph the swimming pig and Wonder 
World is the location of the only cave formed by an earthquake. Unique 
entertainment for families for a weekend or a week are downtown square 
marketplace has items unique to Texas and the Hill Country.

Historic homes are featured the first weekend in May during the Tours of 
Distinction. One of the largest factory outlet malls in the U.S. is 
located just south of San Marcos on IH 35. The Holiday Inn is the host 
hotel. Mention the Bluebonnet Kite Fest for the special group rate. 
Other hotels, camp grounds and bed and breakfast houses are available by 
calling the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce at (512) 396-2495. The Kite 
Fest is sponsored by the San Marcos Bluebonnet Lions Club, the San 
Marcos Tourist and Convention Bureau and the San Marcos Parks and 
Recreation Department.

The field sizes conform to the standards as set forth in the AKA Sport 
Kite Rules Book. All Sport Kite rules will be in effect during this 
competition.
