I'm a virgin so far as kite meets go. Old Warden will be my first time! I'm taking my kids (6yrs and 12 yrs), so how about some advice; Should I bring kites for them (and me) to fly? What should we take? (binoculars / picnic / umbrellas / enough money to buy a decent kite (how much IS that?) / will there be competitions? All tips gratefully received, I want it to be a day that really gets them thinking... -------------------------------------------------------------------- John Grannells * If things dont change * *they'll only stay the same * = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 20 Sep 1995 14:16:42 -1000 From: bforest@bliss.demon.co.uk (bruce forest) Message-Id: Organization: Tunes, VRML and Fine Cheeses.. You were going to bring a softball? > > What should we take? (binoculars / picnic / umbrellas / enough money to > buy a decent kite (how much IS that?) / will there be competitions? Won't need binos, really. Picnic? I would. Next to Old Warden is an awesome garden called the Swiss Garden, wonderful for a break from the kites, if you need one. Umbrellas? You know UK weather. Money? Yup. Good beginner kites run 25GBP and up. You'll spend 75-350 for a top stunter. > > All tips gratefully received, I want it to be a day that really gets > them thinking... It will, I'm sure if it's like the other UK festivals.. -- bruce forest... bforest@bliss.demon.co.uk bforest@bliss.co.uk bliss@ibm.net 100135.173@compuserve.com PGP pubkey on your friendly neighborhood keyserver. The best memory was my son flying his "big green bin bag with two tails". It must have been the best enjoyment to price ratio toy he's ever had. Thanks to all sent tips, we had a very good day :-) P.S. Does anyone know why did it cost 5 pounds each to get in? |^( -- John Grannells * If things dont change, * * they'll only stay the same * = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
