Subject: Big Kites

Hi, any out there fly BIG kites?

I have been thinking about building a 14' stunter
for quite a while but did not want to spend the money
on the spars and sail -- just to have failure.

Well, I came up with methods of building using very
common and inexpensive materials.

I had great success at my 6' and 8' models.
The are not light, but fly very well in moderate winds.
The meterial cost is < $5!!!

I have sold a couple for ~$25

Now I figured out a new way to make long, strong spars.
I a currently contructing a 14' delta (5' center high)
for material cost < $25.  All hardware store materials.

I will let the group know how it goes in about a month.

Any other people interested in big kites?  Let me know.
I need some bridal advise for the big ones...

THe book Stunt Kites II has a big framed stunt kite.  The
materials involved will push it out of your budget, but you
may be able to use some information from the design.

I have several old airfoil personnel parachutes ranging in size from
180 square feet to 300 square feet.  All have full linesets including
control system.  No longer airworth for skydiving.  If anyone is
