Even will all the high-tech stuff that can be found on the kite field,
and the demands and trials of competitive flying, I still find kites
and flying a simple pleasure.

There is nothing quite like a gentle breeze at my back and a firm tug
on the line to make the daily tensions dissolve away.

When I take a new kite onto the field to try it out, it's just like
when I was a boy. I'm excited and I'm nervous. I wonder how well the
kite will fly. And when it does rise into the air, I feel a great deal
of joy, whether it flies well or not, it doesn't matter.

It's magic.

Thank you all for making kites more fun and more exciting. I look
forward to the New Year with much anticipation and excitement.

May the New Year bring long days of gentle breezes and magic in the
air.
