(1-800-827-6364) Subject: Re: Best kite for a buggy? Ronald, The kite for you and your buggy is the one you feel the most comfortable with. You said that you asked a lot of people and tried a few too, this is the right thing to do. If you are able to try different ones. by all means do. Do you prefer dual or quad. Do plan on going in the water? Do You wish to race or do tricks. How much do you want to spend. These questions need to be answered in order to make the proper decision. These days, most of the power foils are very good and improving all of the time. Sky Tigers, Quad Tracks, Quadrifoils, Peels, and Flexifoils still seem to be the most common. You may have to decide based upon your wallet. Peels seem to have the power and to me, are the best for reaching up wind and for boating. The long lines flown by some give you a larger window in which to Power up, but unless you are very good,(like Andrew and others) they are almost impossible to relaunch by your self if crashed. These are the most expensive of the foils but worth it. The new Quad Tracks are an improvment over the Quadrifoils and are more responsive and have more power. The Sky tigers are solid and smooth. Quad Foils are easy to fly. Stacks have a great deal of power but again are difficult to relaunch. All of the above will pull your buggy, Personally I go for the least expensive, best performace, and easiest to fly. I'll add: Best for close contact and dense groups of buggys? Any soft quadline Best for frequent tacking up wind on beaches? Peels on short lines Easiest relaunch on land? Any soft quadline Best for *very* high winds? Probably any small soft quadline. Easiest to reassemble after ditching the lines/handles/kite? Any dual line. Easiest to drag out of water? Quadlines (pull the bottom lines only) Best parafoil for draining water out of? Unscreened parafoils. Easiest parafoil to get mud out of? Unscreened parafoils.
