I just received the following press release: EASTON PURCHASES BEAMAN March 30, 1995, Salt Lake City, UT USA Yesterday, the Court of Lyon France accepted the offer from Easton to Purchase certain assets of Beaman SA, a French company. Beaman SA has been operating under the protection of the bankruptcy court for several months. Easton will take over the operation of the company on April 14, 1995. Easton plans to work closely with the manufacturing facilities in France to increase the flow of product into the dealer network. Current sales and distribution programs for Beaman products will remain unchanged for the 1995 season. Beaman will continue to operate under its own brand name with separate sales and marketing programs. manufacturing will continue in the factory in Villeurbanne, France. Sales and distribution for the European market will be carried out through the French facility. The operations in the U.S. will continue in Traverse City, MI. # # # That's what I know .... Easton rejected kite spar product line a couple of years ago. Kite products were less than 20 0f Beman's turnover. When they say "sales and distribution programs for Beaman products will remain unchanged for the 1995 season", does that mean Beman's delivery problems will not get solved? When I asked the folks at Beman USA about availability of parts and spars, they told me to order early and order often. They didn't say it explicitly, but I took this to mean that there would be no substantive change in kite product availability through 1995. -- Marty Sasaki Harvard University Sasaki Kite Fabrications sasaki@noc.harvard.edu Network Services Division 90 Melrose Street 617-496-4320 10 Ware Street Arlington, MA 02174 Cambridge, MA 02138-4002 phone/fax: 617-646-1925 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
