Here is the edited version of my trip: Left on the 24th of August out of Philidelphia. The Skulkill express way sucks. Met Scott Skinner and Betty(US) on the 25th in Heathrow Airport along with Peter Lynn, the Malaysions, and Gil & Jon Bloom, went to Portsmouth. Flew kites, taught classes, drank beer, went back stage at the music fest, boy those English girls are forward, saw the Buzzcocks, taught more classes in high winds, glad I had vented Tramontanas, fined tuned the Jam Session, sold a few, tried to hold on to them for the US, failed. Picked up a few Box of tricks, received many invitations for the week along with many phone numbers. Monday- last day of the Portsmouth festival, no schools, no announcements, just fun. My birthday, recieved many cards,,, thanks everyone, had a great day Tuesday- Rain, went to visit Johnny Caffy(Decorator) and lovely Rebecca. Rode the train, fun with bags. Johnny picked me up, had good pizza. Wed- Johnny pawned me off on Chris Matheson(Sandpiper 95). Helped put security bars on the windows of his new manufacturing shop, yeh, that'll stop em. Good luck Chris, you'll do fine in there. Back to Johnnys. Great Ti food! Thursday- Welcome to the Underground (the tube) Saw London from a moles point of view, went to visit Paul and Elaine of Cosmic kites, pulled out Jam Session to show, sold 3 on the spot, debuted new HQ Performance video, hey, even Skye, (thier baby) liked it! Flew with great flyers at Epson Downs Race track, drank in a familier pub, great to be back. Eat fish. Friday- more trains, Tube during a Tube strike, fun. made it to Bristol exactly 12pm, Students showed up at 1, wish the wind would have, classes till 6, time to check in at the ole Redwood, saw more familiar faces, look, theres David Brittian in Britian, had a Great time!!! Saturday- woke up to rain, went back to sleep, woke up again, missed some of the festival. Basically walked, talked and flew kites with some great people and great flyers, too many to mention. Have to mention Andrew and his wife, hes great!!!! Looked like the city was ablaze, kiters are good STOMPERS! Taxi to the Hilton, don't ask. Hey, what happened to Sunday ?:) If I'd known that you, the Highwaymen and our leather - clad German friend were celebrating your birthday when I crashed your tent party, I'd have made certain I drank more beer ! As always it was great to be able to put a face and voice, indeed an entire body, to an email address. I had a go on a friend's Jam Session on Monday - its certainly different to anything else I have in my bag at the moment. I'm far from being a master-class pilot, but the kite was just forgiving enough ( and strong enough ! ) to let me have fun whilst still demanding full attention. It was a bit strange to find a kite with a light Icarex sail sparred up with Exel though. I realise it could probably take a variety of spars with varying degrees of success, but why such tough, heavy spars and such a light sail ? Because of the amount of groundwork its likely to be subjected to ? -- Mark de Roussier ************************************ A nice man is a man of nasty ideas. I sort of objected at first to a Icarex sail with that frame, and thought if it is Icarex, then it should be an Ultralight with a UL frame. But it flys very nice with that frame. Glad you liked it.
