Hi, I've had a loan of the video that come with the Flexifoil "Stranger" (wierd guys!) and got all enthusiastic about this trick stuff, but when I get my kite into "controlled uncontrol" the lines tend to get all hooked up on the stand-off mountings, cross-bar mountings and wingtips! Do "trick" kites have setup so they snag less, or are trick flyers just better than me Steve (sjb@commarc.co.nz) = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 24 Jan 1995 08:26:14 -1000 From: steveth@netcom.com (Steve Thomas) Message-Id: Organization: VisionAire, San Francisco, CA Subject: Re: Axel - lines get caught up... Do "trick" kites : have setup so they snag less, or are trick flyers just better than me To be honest, um, "yes" and "yes" :-). There are a few kites on the market that are specifically made to deal with this problem (viz. "tangle free" kites). For instance, the XTC line >From Buena Vista Kite Company (my sponsor, so they go first); Jordan Aire Pro; and a few others come to mind. I you're concerned with snagging--and good axeling IMHO--look for kites with *smooth* trailing edges. Kites with winglets/tip stand-offs get snagged more often (they also don't axle as well...). The stranger looks like it would be a good axeling kite (saw the video: no double axles :-( )... -- _______ Steve Thomas steveth@netcom.com "Consequences, shmonsequences, as long as I'm rich." -- Daffy Duck = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 24 Jan 1995 11:51:09 -1000 From: djskites@aol.com (Djskites) Message-Id: <3g3sod$h17@newsbf02.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc. It sounds like you may be pulling with your execution hand to hard, and either releasing with your release hand to much, or not enough. Try toning down your hand movements and concentrate on finese. A cheat line across the wingtips doesn't hurt. Good Luck Dodd Gross = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
