That would be fine with me...as long as you're not [name of any kite store] in disguise. ________________________________________________________________________________ Thomas C. It's a good idea to request that responses to your ad be sent through e-mail so that your negotiations don't clutter up the newsgroup. Keep your ad short but descriptive, and I like to see a stated price so that I know whether I can afford to respond or not. I'm one of the people that has posted a used kite for sale. I didn't get any responses. So---- I STILL have a Neos Onega (the original Revolution when they first came out) that I'm willing to part with for the right price (or right trade). There were less than 300 of them made, I'm led to believe and are a real collector's item. Mine is in pretty good shape and has been autographed by all three Hadzicki brothers. I'm going to be out of town for a week starting this Saturday so if you are interested E-mail me and I'll respond after my trip (unfortunately not to Wildwood). Rec.kites is an anarchy, so I'm just as entitled to lay down the law as anyone else... :-) Personal "For Sale" Items are fine. People out here are interested to pick up used kit for a decent price. However, don't be a pain and post it repeatedly. Trade advertising is out. Don't post your price-list here! However make sure that your address is in the address FAQ, and feel free to mention your business in your signature. You might even consider putting "Email me for my catalogue and price list" in your .sig. There are opertunities to do straight forward commercial advertising on the World Wide Web. There is already a kite store there! There are a number of people from the industry here and they are all very well behaved in this matter and respected for it. Blatant trade advertising is likely to have a detrimental rather than beneficial effect. There has been "almost trade" stuff that has gone on here in the past, such as distributing hard-to-find books & fabric and the rec.kites pin. Since this has been more to do with providing a service to friends than making money, it has been welcome. The underlying principle behind this is that everyone *pays* to recieve rec.kites. Some only do so indirectly, but some do so at a premium on a per-Kb basis. Advertising is bad enough, but imagine how annoyed you would get if you had to pay for all the junk mail you received... :-( Andrew -- Netiquette-of-the-day: Reduce quotations but don't use null quotations You can FTP the kite FAQ's from ftp.hawaii.edu (directory /pub/rec/kites/faq) /-\ () >< () |\/| () >< () /-\ \-/ () >< () |/\| () >< () \-/ = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
